'Fresh polls imminent'

11 Mar, 2005

President of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Punjab and leader of the opposition in Punjab Assembly Qasim Zia has said that fresh elections are imminent in the country as the present set up has failed to solve problems of the people. Addressing a new conference at the Press Club here on Thursday Qasim Zia said that there is unprecedented price hike, law and order has collapsed, and the people have lost trust in the present government.
He said that in these circumstances popular leaders (Ms Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif) should be allowed to come to Pakistan and play their role in strengthening the democracy.
He said that his party believes in dialogue and not in deals as only a truly elected government in fair and free elections has the moral and political strength to face the internal and external challenges.
