Firmer trend was again witnessed in the inter-bank market on Saturday as rupee-dollar parity rates maintained the overnight levels for buying and selling at 59.35 and 59.37, marketmen said. Easy supply of dollars helped the rupee to sustain its levels and it is expected that the local currency would maintain its firmness in the coming days, they observed. The dollar failed to recover versus the leading currencies of the world, dealers said.
The rupee shed 10 paisa verssu the euro for buying and selling at Rs 79.75 and Rs
80.05, respectively.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at Friday's closing rates of Rs 59.47 and Rs 59.57 on buying and selling counters, respectively. As a result of lacklustre condition in the kerb market, the dollar's rate slightly moved down and closed at Rs 59.45 and Rs 59.55 on buying and selling sides, respectively, the dealers said.
The rupee, however, could not maintain upward trend and depreciated its worth against the pound sterling. The British pound was purchased at Rs 114.25, and sold at Rs 114.50 as compared to Rs 113.85 and Rs 114.20 of Friday, they added.
The dollar opened at Rs 59.50 (buying) and Rs 59.60 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe any further change in the second spell, and closed at Rs 59.50 (buying) and Rs 59.60 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 114.20 (buying) and Rs 114.40 (selling) against the last rate of Rs 113.60 (buying) and Rs 113.70 (selling). It did not observe any change in the second spell, and closed at Rs 114.20 (buying) and Rs 114.40 (selling).
