Ghani group installs float glass plant

15 Mar, 2005

The Ghani Group Limited has installed float glass plant. Till now, Pakistan had no float glass plant and was importing it from other countries. Peter Scully is the project director for this venture. He visited the Ghani Float Glass Plant to guide and instruct regarding every step of processing. 'Float' glass is free from the visual distortions, which are characteristics of older Fourcault and Pittsburgh vertical draw processes, and has fire polished surfaces without the need for expensive grinding and polishing.
The plant is highly self sufficient, since it has one of the biggest hydrogen plants in Pakistan, its own nitrogen plant, one of the biggest silica sands processing, warehouse storage capacity and one of the biggest raw material storage capacity plant in Pakistan.
It also has a large melting furnace capacity of 20,000 tons. Onsite power generation gives a total capacity 8.5mw from gas, oil, hydel, and UPS backup.
Erection work is expected to be completed in the current month and trial production will start from next month.-PR
