Goods Declarations for machinery import to be assessed under ACP

The Collectorate of Customs (Appraisement) has announced that all goods declarations (GDs), filed for the import of machinery except second hand stuff, will be assessed under the Automated Clearance Procedure (ACP) provided the importers are registered under the system. An order, issued by Collector Azhar Majid Khalid, has said to facilitate trade and industry, from March 15 onwards all the GDs, if filed by the importers already availing of the facility of the ACP, will be assessed under the Automated Clearance Procedure.
The facility will be applicable to the GDs of machinery, other than second hand, falling under Chapter 84 and 85 of Pakistan Customs Tariff and attracting five percent customs duty and zero percent sales tax under SRO 500(1)/2004 dated June 12, 2004 and income tax exemption under Schedule 11, Part 1V, clause 31 (A) of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
