Chinese entrepreneurs have shown interest in joint ventures with their Pakistani counterparts in the fields of housing, construction, electronics and steel. Positive economic indictors have forced the Chinese businessmen to make investment in Pakistan and reap the fruit of business-friendly policies of the present regime. These views were expressed by Lu Yiping, head of 19-member delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs, while speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Thursday.
The meeting, which was attended by a large number of Pakistani businessmen, was also addressed by LCCI Senior Vice President Sohail Lashari and Vice President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad.
Lu Yiping said "as Pakistan lacks technology of high-rise buildings, therefore we want to share that technology with our Pakistani brothers."
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI Senior Vice President, Sohail Lashari said that it is high time for the Chinese business community to make investment in Pakistan, which is fast emerging as true economic leader in the region because of its ideal policies. He said that industrial sector is growing in the range of 16 to 18 percent per annum and the overall economic growth is likely to touch the figure of 8 percent.
He was of the view that Pakistan and China enjoy much better prospects for setting up a free trade zone to promote their exports to Central Asian states and Middle East. Gwadar Seaport is enough to make the point and a vital proof of Pak-China friendship, he added.
He was of the view that the two countries need to work out a joint strategy for giving boost to their respective foreign trades by identifying areas of common interest in export sector.
LCCI Vice President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad invited the Chinese entrepreneurs to come forward and take advantage of business opportunities available in Pakistan. He said that small and medium scale enterprise has a lot of potential for Chinese businessmen and investment in this sector can produce tremendous results for both Pakistan and China.
He also urged the Chinese investors to avail the opportunities in the sector of real estate, which is growing with jet speed. He added that low cost housing projects have special attraction for Chinese business community.
