The NWFP Governor Commander Khalilur Rehman has expressed his firm commitment against the menace of corruption particularly in the government offices, saying the honest, dutiful and hardworking officials would be duly encouraged. In his maiden briefing with the officers of the Governor's Secretariat, held here at the Governor House on Thursday morning the governor said the corruption has got into the blood of our society and has become cancerous that has to be curbed.
During the briefing the governor was apprised of the administrative skeleton, responsibilities and various parameters of the functionaries of the Governor Secretariat working for the settled as well as tribal areas separately.
He was also updated about the administrative and establishment set up of Fata, development strategy and law and order situation with special reference to the events that had taken place in North and South Waziristan agencies over the past period of about two years.
The governor was informed that a comprehensive reform package had been prepared to be implemented gradually. The devolution of power and authority to the agency level as well as the process of formation of elected agency councils has also been completed in order to empower the people of Fata and involve them in the decision making.
The Governor Khalilur Rehman advised the officers to work for a clean and neat administration saying, "I want to see the Fata affairs transparent". He urged them to take necessary steps in this regard within their respective jurisdictions. "We have to take concrete initiatives to root out corruption", the governor stressed.
The briefing was attended by the Secretary to Governor Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad, Secretary Fata Security Brigadier Mahmood Shah (Retd), Additional Secretary to Governor Sikandar Qayum, Additional Secretary P&D Fata Aftab Akbar Durrani, DG Media Fata Shah Zaman Khan and Project Director Law Enforcement Agencies Banaras Khan Jadoon.
