A former provincial minister of NWFP Ghani-ur-Rehman has alleged victimisation at the hands of provincial government and police chief Kohat Range, DIG, Abdul Majeed Marwat. He demanded impartial inquiry of the incident through crime branch of police. Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Tuesday, he termed the registration of murder case under section 302 against his family totally baseless and concocted aiming to damage them politically.
About the registration of case in the recent firing incident, he said that actually it was firing between motorcycle riders and motorcar, but their whole family has been included in the case. He said that it was fifth concocted case registered against his family since the posting of the present DIG Kohat.
Ghani-ur-Rehman, who was also flanked by his son MPA Atiq-ur-Rehman said that earlier his sons were involved in a kidnapping case to damage the reputation of their family. However, he said that courts have rejected all previous cases against him and his family.
In the recent case, he said the local administration is fully supporting their opponents and has registered a false case against them. He also alleged that police has tampered with the post-mortem report of the deceased. Similarly, he alleged that soon after the occurrence of the incident, his nephew visited the police station concerned and insisted the registration of FIR, but police official declined. However, the case of the other party was registered within no time.
Replying a query, he charged Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani for victimising his family due to the active role of his son Atiq-ur-Rehman in the proceeding of the NWFP Assembly. He alleged that the provincial government had tasked the DIG concerned to take revenge from us.
In response to another question, he said that he had already moved an application to NWFP police chief for changing the investigation team of the case and called for immediate stoppage of the victimisation and one-sided activities against him and his family.
