The Lahore High Court (LHC) has called record of anti-terrorist courts in an appeal filed by the PML-N activists challenging rejection of their petition against FIR registered against them by the Anarkali Police Station under the provisions of Terrorist Act and MPO. The petitioners contended that neither they are terrorists nor criminals, but the respondent police officials registered FIR against them on the occasion of arrival of PML-N President, Shahbaz Sharif under Terrorist Act illegally and without lawful authority.
It was prayed to the court to set aside the decision of the respondent court and direct the respondent police officials to exclude the provisions of Terrorist Act from the FIR.
The court, after hearing petitioner's counsel Nasir Bhutta, called for record of the special courts and FIR registered against them.
NAZIM DIRECTED: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed Nazim Iqbal Town, Sardar Adil Umer to submit a report whether cattle market has been shifted from Sabzazar Scheme or not.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by Sabzazar Welfare Society praying to the court to direct the respondent Nazim to shift the cattle market.
It was contended that the respondent Nazim, despite directions failed to take any step for shifting of the cattle market. The court observed that the petitioner has produced sufficient evidence, which proved that the cattle market has not yet been shifted.
The court observed that if contention of the petitioner were true, the respondent would be proceeded under contempt of court proceedings.
SERVICES PLACED: The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has placed the services of additional district and sessions judge, Syed Ijaz Hussain at the disposal of government of Punjab for his posting as Judge Anti-Terrorism Court Bahawalpur.
The chief justice, while placing his services at the disposal of the Punjab government observed that unless directed otherwise, the officer shall stand repatriated to the judiciary on completion of three years.
HEARING PUT OFF: An accountability court on Thursday adjourned the proceedings till April 02, in a reference against the PML-N acting president Javed Hashmi after recording the statements of three prosecution witnesses.
The court also directed the investigating officer to appear before the court for recording his statement on next date of hearing. The accused has been facing the charges of corruption and making illegal assets in excess of his income.
The police produced the accused Javed Hashmi before the court amid stringent security arrangements.
REFERENCE AGAINST BADR: Another accountability court put off the proceedings till March 26 in a reference against former federal minister and secretary general PPPP Jehangir Badr, as he sought time for recording his statement.
The accused has been facing the charges of corruption and making illegal assets. He has also been facing the charges of misusing his office as federal minister.
