The world's top five golfers, including Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh, will battle for the richest purse in the sport at this week's Players Championship. Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen are also entered in the eight million dollar tournament which is generally regarded as the most prestigious event outside the four majors. It will be the first time this year that the top five will compete in the same event. And with the course soft on Thursday after heavy pre-tournament rain, the winning score may be relatively low, somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-under-par.
Of the fabulous five, only Woods has won this event, having triumphed in 2001, while Singh was second that same year and Mickelson tied for third last year.
