Police officials should made all possible efforts for the elimination of terrorism and sectarianism from the province as well as country and give people a sense of security, said Dr Azhar Hassan Nadeem, Additional Inspector General of Police Punjab here on Thursday. He was addressing a passing out parade of the newly trained police officers at Punjab Police Training College Sihala. About 2000 newly trained police officers have been passed out after completion of their training in the college.
These officers include 400 male and 43 female probation officers (ASIs) who have been appointed by Public Service Commission. Chief Guest visited parade and received salute from the smartly dressed contingents of the outgoing officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Police chief said that protection of life, property and honour of general public is primary responsibility of the police. "All the newly trained officials must keep in mind that they have create awareness among masses about the implementation on law. We must behave honourably with people and create a sense of protection among them", he added.
He said that police officials must use their all out efforts and energies for elimination of crime from the society and create a crime free society. It is possible only when general public co-operate with police for which their confidence on police should be restored by words and deeds of the officers, he added.
He impressed upon the outgoing officials that they serve people for which they have assigned this task and make sure that people trust on them. "Good and responsible policing would only help us in elimination of crime from the society and making police station "Darul Amun" (a place of peace and protection).
Earlier in his welcome address, Commandant of the Police College Mirza Muhammad Ali said that two thousand officers have completed training in this batch and are passing out. He said that these officers were given proper training for elimination of crime from the society besides character building.
"Character building of the police officials is imperative as they have to face general public and criminals" he said adding that he and his determined college staff used all their efforts to give better training to these officials besides teach them about the value of their training and their role in society.
