About million people are suffering from tuberculosis (TB) in the country, while one TB patient affect at least 10 healthy people, thus taking part in fight against this disease is our national obligation. Punjab Minister for Special Education, Qudsia Lodhi stated this while leading a walk held against TB organised by Anti TB Association here on Thursday. Students of Social Welfare Department of the Punjab University and officials of 17 pharmaceutical companies took part in the walk, held to create awareness about the disease.
The minister said Pakistan is among those countries, which have a large number of TB patients mainly due to lacking awareness about quality life. The government and non-government organisations should joint hands for eradication of TB from the country, she added.
TB is spreading in rural and less developed areas of the country where people are lacking even basic healthcare facilities.
Chairman, Anti TB Association, Dr Tariq Saeed said the association is providing free services to deserving TB patients since 1954.
