NDF demands elections under independent commission

National Democratic Front (NDF) has demanded of the government to restore 1973 constitution in its real shape and hold elections under an independent and transparent election commission. The leaders of the newly established political forum were addressing a press conference here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, former speaker National Assembly, chief co-ordinator of the Alliance Ellahi Bux Soomro said the present situation in Balochistan was disturbing while country also suffered from inflation, unemployment and poor governance. However, he appreciated the dialogue process between the government and Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and added the dialogue alone could defuse the present imbroglio.
He strongly advocated the provincial autonomy as remedy saying it alone could create confidence between provinces and federation. Talking about manifesto of the new alliance, Soomro said the restoration of 1973 constitution, maintaining good governance, freedom of press, controlling inflation and holding transparent elections in the country were the basic objectives of NDF. NDF General Secretary Syed Nusrat Ali Shah, Shakir Banoori, Muhammad Fazil Advocate, Safirullah Khan, Jan Alam, Hamid Akbar Afridi, Salim Akbar Afridi and Syed Peer Tanveer Hassan Gilani were also present on the occasion.
