Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday constituted a 12-member committee to monitor the price situation in the country by keeping a watch on the supply and demand conditions. The committee will also co-ordinate with the provinces and district governments for effective monitoring of the prices. Dr Salman Shah, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Finance, will be the Chairman of the Prime Minister's Committee on Prices.
The members of the committee are Daniyal Aziz, Chairman NRB, Omer Ayub Khan, Minister of State for Finance, Mir M. Naseer Mengal, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Riaz Fatyana, MNA, Kunwar Khalid Younas, MNA, Ms Kashmala Tariq, MNA, and federal secretaries of finance, food and agriculture, petroleum and natural resources and statistics.
The committee has been tasked to propose measures to keep a check on the price level of various commodities in the country through a proper system of monitoring on daily basis.
It has been authorised to co-opt any member for assistance in carrying out its work.
