Imam Hussain's chehlum observed with solemnity

The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was observed here with religious fervour. The main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park and after passing through its traditional routes terminated at Hussanian Iranian on Thursday. Allama Talib Jauhari addressed a majlis at Nishtar Park and exhorted upon his audience to strictly adhere to the lofty principals of Islam, Imam Hussain (RA) upheld even at the cost of his life. Paying glowing tributes to Imam Hussain (RA) he said that the Imam (RA) and his seventy-two companions were committed to defending Islam even at the cost of their lives and didn't admitted to the unjust demands of Yazid.
He said, "the teachings of Islam should be strictly followed if we wish to make Pakistan a peaceful place to live". He called upon the masses to remain peaceful even in tense moments and try to settle their issues amicably.
After the majlis-e-azza, Alam and Tazia procession was taken out. Many small processions taken out early morning reached Nishtar Park one after the other and merged into the main procession.
The procession passed through Purani Numaiesh, M A Jinnah Road, Empress Market, Regal Chawk, Tibbet Centre, again on M A Jinnah Road, Bolton Market and terminated at Hussanian Iranian.
The mourners recited noha, soz-o-salam and at places zakireen addressed the procession and highlighted the salient features of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). The mourners also offered Zohrain at M A Jinnah Road. Sabils had been set-up throughout the route of the procession while food was also distributed.
The city administration had taken tight security measures. Traffic police had also arranged for alternative routes but still many drivers ignoring the directives created traffic jams in the city.
