AIOU fee collection up by 23 percent

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) marked a 23 percent increase in its fees collections accumulating Rs 891.335 million in 2004-05 against an amount of Rs 725.107 million last year. While the amount of endowment fund remained Rs 1.2118 billion in 2004-05, disclosed Annual Vice Chancellor's report. The university received Rs 48.80 million from government in the form of grant in-aid and it was estimated that till June it would receive Rs 115.2 million more. It received Rs 35 million from sale of Admission forms. Varsity earned Rs 2 million from books. Rs 70.666 million were earned as profit on its investment.
The recurring expenditure for the year 2004-05 is estimated around Rs 1.30 billion and developmental expenditure Rs 6.783 million.
The university spent Rs 1.2 million on conferences, seminars and contributions to foreign institutions in 2004-05.
The enrolment of post-graduate students was 42885 in 47 courses, 340280 in graduate courses and 133974 in teacher education.
AIOU is likely to receive printing equipment worth Rs 1800 million grant-in-aid from government of Japan in 2005-06.
