Rawalpindi police recover 18 cars

Rawalpindi police after hectic efforts have arrested a gangster namely Dr Abdul Qayyum and recovered 18 cars from his possession. This was disclosed by District Police Officer (DPO) Rawalpindi Murawat Ali Shah here on Thursday while addressing a press conference at Westridge Police Station. He was flanked by various police officials of the district.
Giving details of the recovered cars, the DPO said that 18 cars including 9 Suzuki Mehran, 6 Suzuki Bolan, 1 each Toyota Corola, Suzuki Baleno and Suzuki Khyber were recovered from the possession of Dr Qayyum. He said that after increasing incidents of car lifting the district police has started the hunting of the car lifters.
DPO said that he directed the SP investigation, SP City and ASP cantonment to make sure the immediate hunt of the car lifters gang and recovery of the stolen vehicles. A party consisting of one inspector and various other officials was constituted to chase the gang, he said adding that the party after hectic efforts arrested Dr Qayyum and during the course of investigation he confessed the various incidents of car lifting.
Dr Qayyum, notorious car lifter told the investigators that he is taking the stolen vehicles to Mardan, NWFP and after tampering the engine and chesis no's the fake documents of the vehicle were being made in ETO Lahore in connivance of the officials of ETO officials. He said that car lifter is being investigated and more recoveries are expected from him.
