Pakistan People's Party (PPP) should learn lesson from Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and do not damage the cause of democracy by striking any deal with the rulers even if it carries some timely and short lived personal benefits. Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, PML-N Central Finance Secretary, expressed these views while addressing a meeting of PML-N here on Thursday. According to him, the rulers' call for reconciliation and to take along the enlightened political parties like PPP does not mean anything but to support the prolongation of undemocratic and illegal rule. As such political parties should be aware of the hidden intention of the rulers.
On the one hand the government was talking about reconciliation with PPP but on the other hand insulting behaviour was meted out to Asif Ali Zardari and his companions. Still hundreds of PPP workers were behind bar and the police were raiding houses of their leaders and workers. He admitted that the government had also contacted Shahbaz Sharif but he never comprised on principles and part line and the parley was over.
