Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday said owing to structural reforms the country's strong capital markets were playing an important role in strengthening the country's economy. He was talking to Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Tariq Hassan, who presented him the annual report at the Prime Minister House.
He said the fundamentals of the economy were strong and the corporate earnings of the companies listed in the Stock Exchange showing profits creating a positive impact on the markets.
The Chairman SECP briefed the Prime Minister on the reforms carried out by the SECP.
The Prime Minister appreciated the performance of SECP and directed the chairman to continue the process of reforms.
Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub Khan was also present.
