Hearing of references against Benazir and Zardari adjourned

24 Apr, 2005

Local Accountability Courts (AC) have adjourned the hearing of four corruption references against the former Prime Minister Benazir and her spouse Asif Zardari for May 13. Zardari's lawyer appeared in the court here on Saturday and prayed for adjournment, as the accused was not feeling well. The cases, which were adjourned, include ARY-Gold, SGS, Assets and BMW corruption references.
The Ehtisab Bench of LHC Pindi Bench had convicted Asif Zardari and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in SGS case in April 1999. The Supreme Court had set aside the conviction and had sent that case for re-trial to the AC.
