The Brazilian Supermarkets Association (BSA) has proposed a mini-exhibition of Pakistani products in Brazil for the awareness of Brazilian super markets owners and offered the premises of BSA for holding of this event. The President BSA Omar Ausaf conveyed this idea to Chairman Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Tariq Ikram in a meeting, held few days back in the office of BSA, a press release of EPB said on Thursday.
The BSA president also offered to hold workshops and delegation meetings for the proposed participants in this venture as well as media and publicity so that proper and focussed event could take place.
He informed that a large fair is held by the super market association twice a year, one in May and second in September of every year adding that Pakistan should consider participating in that fair if it wanted to have its products introduced in the supermarkets of Brazil. Omar said that sales in supermarkets in Brazil amounted to 35 billion dollars last year and had a much better outlook this year.
He stressed a proper understanding of the Brazilian markets by the Pakistani businessmen as first step, which had to be followed by quality products at competitive pricing as well and once that has been established, there has to be a positive continuity in the business relationship. Chairman EPB said that though the geographical distance between Brazil and Pakistan was quite far, but there definitely existed opportunities for the mutual benefit of the people of both the countries.
Recalling the President of Pakistan visit to Brazil last year, he said a need was felt to bring the people and both the countries closer to each other and as an effort in that direction, this delegation was formed.
