The activities of 'Education for All Week' commenced on Sunday throughout the country. The weeklong activities aimed at creating awareness among the target groups in the rural areas and urban slums so that all segments of society could be involved in this vital endeavour for national progress. In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad students and teachers of Unesco ASPnet institutions visited various urban slums and rural areas to apprise them of the importance of education.
The National Commission for Unesco, an organ of the Ministry of Education has mobilised its over 300 ASPnet schools across the country to spread the EFA message among the target groups particularly out-of-school and street children.
The Unesco Commission hoisted banners with the EFA messages on all the important crossings of the twin cities to create awareness among the people and to muster their support on Education for All.
During the week the parliamentarians will be visiting schools to assure them of their support of education for all. Lawmakers will also participate in the week-long activities being organised by various schools in every nook and corner of the country.
A number of colourful activities has been chalked out to highlight the importance of the week that include seminars, TV discussions, poster, essay and speech competitions among the students of ASPnet schools.
