'Anti-polio drive in Fata from April 26

UN Resident Co-ordinator Onder Yucer accompanied by WHO Representative Dr Khalif Bile called on NWFP governor Khalil-ur-Rehman at Governor's House here on Saturday, and discussed various measures to make the polio eradication campaign, being launched in Fata from April 26, a success. Both dignitaries apprised the governor about the arrangements being made by their respective organisations in this connection. During the campaign, they said that efforts are being made to ensure accessibility to every child in Fata.
They also described the arrangements made so far in this connection as quite result-oriented, saying that, for complete eradication of polio, it has to be ensured that each and every child is properly vaccinated. They also requested the governor to extend his full co-operation to make the campaign a real success.
Talking to both dignitaries, the governor assured that the teams engaged in the vaccination process would be extended complete protection, and directed the Fata Health Director to ensure effective co-ordination in this respect.
The NWFP governor also stressed the need for focusing on far-flung areas like Tirah and Shawal in this connection, and said that the respective political administrations will fully co-operate with visiting teams.
Stressing the need for promoting the awareness amongst the masses in this connection, the governor also said the respective communities should also be taken into confidence, which would definitely prove helpful in deriving encouraging and useful results.
