Call for addressing traffic problems in Islamabad

Long-term strategy should be put in place for streamlining massive traffic problems of the federal capital and the CDA Traffic Engineering Department should be improved to meet future challenges. Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) vice-president Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry said road traffic has increased manifold due to which public face problems, especially during peak hour. There was no signal on the Jinnah Avenue in the master plan of Islamabad, he said, adding that no underpasses and flyovers were planned at major crossings.
He appreciated the CDA decision of constructing underpass near Kulsoom Plaza in Blue Area and said this would ease traffic jams to some extent.
He demanded of the authorities concerned to evolve an effective plan to address traffic problems.
