At least 50 persons of a marriage party, including the groom, became unconscious after taking meal, seven of them are stated to be in critical condition. A marriage party arrived at Kehror-Pucca (Lodhran), some 50 miles south-east of Multan, on Saturday from Khanewal. After the Nikah ceremony, the in-laws served the meal to the groom and his party.
After taking the meal, some members of the party started vomiting while others became unconscious. They were immediately removed to a hospital where condition of seven persons Mirza Imran (brother of the bride), Sabir, Rasul, Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Riaz, Abdul Majid and Nafees Bibi is stated to be serious, while others are declared out of danger.
The Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Suleman said, "they might have taken food containing some poisonous substance."
"We did not receive any complaint from any quarter so we did not take any action against anyone," DPO Lodhran Muhammad Zaman Langarial said.
