Cleanliness drive in Lahore from today

Solid Waste Management Department of the City district government of Lahore is launching a grand cleanliness operation in the provincial metropolis from Monday An extra effort would be made to clear the solid waste during the operation, which would continue till removing the whole backlog of the waste, a senior official of SWMD told APP here on Sunday. He said the SWMD had deputed field staff and equipment to clear the backlog of solid waste in different towns.
Giving details of the first week of the operation, the official said that the operation would begin from union council 93, Data Ganj Bukhsh (DGB) town at 9.00 am on Monday.
Priority areas of cleanliness during the week ending on April 30 would be Garden Town, Ravi town Lalazar colony, Khurshid Park, Naseem Park Shama colony, Taj Ghazi park and Madina roundabout.
In Allama Iqbal Town, union council 102, in Shalimar Town union council 35 and different other areas, including Ponch road, Multan road, Society road, areas behind Shalimar Bagh and Aman park in Baghbanpura would also be cleaned in the week.
Senior officials of the concerned towns and city district government would monitor the field staff during the operation to achieve the objective of cleanliness, he added.
