Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan after ignoring the requisition of the opposition has summoned Sindh Assembly session on May 6 at 9:30 am to transact government business and pass bills as many as possible pending for a long time. The opposition on Thursday said that it had become a practice of the government that it would not call a session till such time the opposition had submitted its requisition. They said that the opposition wanted to discuss atrocities committed on the peaceful crowd and the large number of journalists that were guests of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Lahore to receive Asif Ali Zardari.
They said that the Punjab government dealt with peaceful men and women in the most barbaric manner, humiliated journalists, and harassed them before they could alight from the airplane that had brought them from Dubai to Karachi.
They said that law and order situation in Sindh had deteriorated and many agencies had named provincial government ministers involved in backing up criminals.
The opposition named the ministers and said that the Karachi Electronic Market incident had already exposed involvement of ministers in mobile phone snatching.
They said that the former revenue minister Imtiaz Shaikh was already under investigation for different charges leading to corruption, misuse of power and involvement in land scandals. Sooner or later the National Accountability Bureau would prosecute him in a court of law, they added.
The opposition MPAs have expressed their disgust over the attitude of the governor who had made it a habit to ignore requisitions and summons session on the request of the law minister.
