The government is taking every possible step for the welfare of working classes. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport and Industry, Mohammad Adil Siddiqui, in his message on the occasion of the May Day. He said: "In the present day era no one can deny the significance of the rights of the working classes." The minister said: "The May Day reminds us of the sacrifices of those who had laid down their lives in the struggle for the rights of workers." He was of the view that the workers should fully benefit from the incentives made available to them under the labour laws.
Adil Siddiqui said the government along with the protection of the rights of the workers, has also undertaken various projects for the welfare of the working classes.
He said during his ministership labour colonies were constructed and expansion was undertaken in the existing ones, the wages of the workers were determined, `Jahez' grant for marriages of the daughters of workers was enhanced, model schools were set up for the children of the workers, educational scholarships enhanced, vocational training centres set up. Better medical facilities were made available and financial benefits were provided under the social protection scheme.
The minister said the provision of cash financial assistance and medical facilities to workers in case of accidents or disability, is among his priorities.
He stated that the government wants to provide a pleasant atmosphere to the workers so that the workers could perform their duties with devotion and peace of mind and thus help strengthen the economy.
