Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Mian Khadim Hussain Wattoo has said that Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) was ensuring 100 percent appropriate utilisation of zakat funds by imparting technical training to the deserving people through vocational training institutes (VTIs) in the province. Addressing the students of VTI Sheikhupura after visiting an exhibition organised by the students for the first time in history of PVTC, he said that PVTC was playing a marvellous role in converting the destitute into effective members of society.
He also appreciated PVTC Chairman Sikandar Mustafa Khan for serving the deserving and needy people of the society. Speaking on the occasion, Sikandar Mustafa said that PVTC was making sincere efforts for poverty alleviation from the province. He said the Council had so far set up 100 VTIs across the province where around 30,000 Mustahqeen-e-Zakat were being imparted technical training in demand oriented skills.
Chief Executive Officer of PVTC Muhammad Saeed Khan expressed hope that PVTC would meet the target of setting up 500 VTIs in the province with a capacity of 100,000 students by 2008.
Chief Operating Officer of PVTC, Sajid Naseer Khan and District Nazim Sheikhupura, Saleem Shahadatullah were also present on the occasion.
