Railways to announce Rs 7.5 billion profit

Railways Minister Shamim Haider has stressed upon engineers to tour four provinces to apprise themselves about a true picture regarding construction of big dams in the country. He was speaking in a seminar on the construction of dams held under the auspices of Institution of Engineers (IEP) here on Saturday. The minister stated that the government would soon announce construction of new dams with consensus. Speaking about work in railways, he said the railways would announce Rs 7.5 billion profit in June this year. He said a number of important steps had been taken by the government to improve state of affairs in railways.
Former finance minister Dr Mubashir Hassan, speaking on the occasion, stressed upon the need of building new water reservoirs in the country. IEP president Engineer Aftab Aslam Agha said more than 80,000 engineers of the country were unanimous in their opinion on construction of big dams in the country.
He said the Institution of Engineers has planned to hold seminars in this connection in all provinces of the country. Engineer Khurshid Ghias said politicians must form a unified opinion on the construction of big dams. Engineer Amir Hamza appreciated policies undertaken under the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf for the development of the country.
