'Official machinery being used in local government poll campaign'

Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) has accused the government of preparing for pre-poll rigging in the coming local bodies election and demanded of the government for holding general election under an independent election commission. Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, PPPP Punjab Secretary Information Naveed Chaudhry accused that ruling party is using official machinery on the LG election campaign. He said that government has totally failed to provide relief to the common man adding that general elections be held under a neutral election commission in the supervision of international human right commission.
Talking about the arrested workers, he said that at least 400 workers are behind the bars from all provinces adding that they are being treated inhumanly.
To a question, Chaudhry said that enlightened moderation theory was doctrine of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and PPP is not following the enlightened moderation theory of present government.
Accusing the Punjab government, he said that Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has spent 25 percent of provincial budget on his personal advertisement through print and electronic media, and said that PPPP would conduct audit of these irregularities.
