Industrialists urged to prepare budget proposals for boosting investment

M A Jaleel, Adviser to Chief Minister, Sindh, for Excise & Taxation, has called upon the industrialists to prepare a memorandum of recommendations for making a viable budget to boost industrial investment in the province. This he said while presiding over the second session of 'Pre-Budget Conference 2005-06' organised by the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) in collaboration with Kotri Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) here.
Addressing the conference, he saIndustrialists urged to prepare budget proposals for boosting investmentid that pre-budget conferences help in collecting suggestions of all stakeholders so that the government can formulate fiscal year's budget.
He said that the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) registered an increase of 52 percent during the first seven month of the current fiscal year, compared to corresponding period of last year.
He termed the inflation as unhappy situation and said it was increased mainly due to hike in petroleum and other essential consumer goods prices, and added that efforts are being made to stabilise the prices structure.
The adviser arrived at the conference according to schedule, and not four hours late, as reported earlier. The confusion was created when the conference, that was scheduled to start at 11 am, was delayed by one hour. Later the provincial adviser distributed shields to speakers.
