The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday put off to May 03, the proceedings in a petition filed by former federal minister Jehangir Badr against an accountability court, when his counsel was still submitting his arguments. The petitioner's counsel contended before the court that the respondent court failed to fulfil the legal and constitutional procedure in a reference against him. He said that the respondent court did not allow him to produce more witnesses before the court. He prayed to the court to direct the respondent court to allow him to produce more witnesses to meet the ends of justice.
The petitioner is facing charges of corruption and making illegal assets in excess of his income. The accountability court had reserved its verdict in the case, as petition filed by the accused was pending with the LHC.
