Pakistani cardiologists accomplish feat

Seventeen-year-old Farheen with uncontrolled hypertension underwent stenting of coarctation of aorta at Hussaini Hospital and Cardiac Care Centre, Bahadurabad by Dr M Faisal Memon, interventional cardiologist and his team. Dr Asad Hussaini provided surgical cover. This is the first time in Pakistan that this type of procedure is being carried out by Pakistani cardiologist under local anaesthesia rather than general anaesthesia with the family consent.
Benefit of this procedure was that patient recovered soon after procedure and her blood pressure normalised without need of any anti-hypertensive medications.-PR
