Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Wednesday lauded the close ties of friendship and understanding that exists between Pakistan and Poland, and hoped that the economic ties between the two countries would expand. He said this while extending greetings to the Ambassador of Poland, H. E. Bogdan Marczewski, the Consul General of Poland in Karachi and Mrs Ireneusz Makles as also the Chairman of the Pakistan Poland Business Forum, Fazal Karim Dadabhoy.
Before the formal cake cutting ceremony on the occasion the national anthems of Pakistan and Poland were played marking the 214th anniversary of the Constitution and the National Day of Poland.
Ambassador Bogdan, who had earlier on May 3 hosted the Polish National Day reception in Islamabad, flew in especially for the reception here.
The reception was attended among others by Consul General of Saudi Arabia, H. E. Dr Hasan A. Attar, Consul General of Qatar, H. E. Ahmed Sultan Aseeri, Consul General of Bahrain, H. E. Jameel Abdul Wahab Abdus Salam, Consul General of the UAE, Rahma Shamsi, Consul General of Kuwait and the Dean of the Consular Corps in Karachi, Omani Consul General, Usama Qassem Al-Jamali and Consul General of Indonesia, Hikmat Moelyawan, Consul General of Japan and Mrs Shoichi Nakano, new Consul General of South Korea, Sukchul Chang, Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayed Mousa Hussaini.
Among the leading pressmen who attended were Humaa Ahmed of the News, Arshad Zuberi of the Business Recorder, Mahmudul Aziz of UPP/PNR and several others.
The Polish envoy and the Consul General said they were very happy with the spontaneous greetings of the occasion extended to them by the Pakistani friends. Fazal Karim Dadabhoy, who welcomed the guests at the reception line, said he was very happy to associate all members of the Business Forum with the reception and the celebrations of Polish National Day.
Several newspapers also carried supplements highlighting Polish National Day and Pakistan-Poland ties on Wednesday.
