The Telenor Pakistan took another step ahead in providing value-added services to its customers by signing Short Messaging Service (SMS) Interconnect Agreement with the PTCL, the largest fixed line operator. After implementation of this interconnectivity, mobile subscribers of the Telenor Pakistan will be able to send and receive SMS to fixed line and WLL subscribers of the PTCL. The agreement was signed by Irfan Wahab Khan, Executive Vice President Telenor Pakistan and Gul Ahmad, Chief Engineer Policy and Regulations PTCL.
Speaking on the occasion EVP Irfan Wahab Khan emphasised the importance of messaging in the modern era of communications and described SMS as an emerging technology, which established itself as an important means of communication world-wide.
By signing an interconnect with the PTCL, the Telenor Pakistan mobile users will remain in contact with their homes as well as offices while moving throughout the world, he further added.
The Telenor Pakistan is the newcomer among the 12 Telenor mobile companies world-wide with a total subscriber base of 60.1 million. The company is 100 percent owned by Telenor and adds on operations in Asia together with Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
