Siraj pledges to table Hisba Bill in NWFP Assembly

12 May, 2005

The NWFP Senior Minister and provincial Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami |(JI) Siraj-ul-Haq has said that Hisba Act would be tabled in next session of the provincial assembly. He maintained that if nobody differed on providing social justice to the masses and ensuring supremacy of law and merit, then developing consensus for approval of this act from assembly was also certain.
Talking to journalists at Markaz-e-Islami Peshawar on Tuesday, he said that deep concern was shown on not presenting the Hisba draft act in the provincial assembly in the recent provincial Shura meeting of Jamaat-i-Islami, as well as the need for disposal of this matter as soon as possible.
He said that MMA government would endeavour to pick viewpoints of all the assembly members on this act, as he said there was enough room in administrative and legal matters. He said that Islamic laws are divine laws bestowed by Allah Almighty, and the only need was to implement it through parliament and law enforcing agencies.
To a question, Siraj said that decision of MMA supreme council was there about participation of Opposition Leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman and NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani in the National Security Council (NSC), the decision was duly endorsed by the provincial Shura of JI. As he said, "we all were bound to obey all decisions of the supreme council".
He said that further comments and arguments of the district and provincial organisations, or leaders of MMA constituents on this matter did not deem fit. To a question, he said that alliance of MMA would be further strengthened and deepened with the passage of time, as MMA has emerged as ray of hope and success for the masses. He said that MMA existed despite all propaganda and palace intrigues of the opponents, while it would remain intact with active support of the people. He said that Frontier province would prove base camp of Islamic revolution and enforcement of Shariah, for the entire country.
Responding to a question, the senior minister said that desecration of the Holy Quran at Guantanamo Bay was a regrettable and shameful act, proving that West neither believed in true democracy nor respected human feelings. It was also proved that the excesses perpetrated by US led allied forces were much more greater than Genghis Khan, which were in fact a black spot on the very face of Western world.
To a question, he said that resolution of condemnation in the National Assembly on derogatory cartoon about Pakistan in Washington Times should be passed against central rulers and their policies that provided such an opportunity to a cartoonist. To another question Siraj said that it must also be clear after arrest of Abu Faraj as to the person who helped in his arrest, and who received the reward money as such, he concluded.
