PIFCCI formation opposed

27 May, 2005

The induction of the new office-bearers of Indo-Pak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IPCCI) has been described as illegal by IPCCI President Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour. In a press statement here on Thursday, he criticised the formation of the Pakistan India Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PIFCCI) which, he said was just a change of nomenclature, ie from IPCCI to PIFCCI aimed at creating confusion. He deplored the president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in becoming partner and rubber stamp in the illegal acts of his supporters.
Bilour said that he would draw attention of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry towards the objectionable acts of FPCCI which may have been adopted by FICCI without proper checking and appraisement of the real situation. The present members of IPCCI were neither invited nor consulted on the formation of PIFCCI.
The handing over and taking over by the office-bearers of PIFCCI was full of irregularities, he said, adding in this whole exercise, the FPCCI is illegal party by its own choice and FICCI has been made party by default.
