A 15-member South Asian delegation comprising three journalists, each from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh will pay a ten-day visit to China from first week of June. The Pakistani journalists include Imtiaz Alam (The News), Qudssia Akhlaque (Dawn) and Afzal Khan (The Nation). Besides Beijing, they will visit Shanghai and Yunan province. "It will be a study trip, arranged after the recent successful visit of Premier Wen Jiabao to the South Asian countries," said an official of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
This would help to have greater understanding of the latest developments in bilateral relations and co-operation at the regional levels among the respective countries. The Chinese government used to arrange such visits, promoting interaction among the journalist community.
Since China is growing economic power, and playing a vital role in the regional and international affairs, such media exchanges always proved very useful promoting awareness and understanding of various events and policies in their true perspective, the sources added.
