Religious scholar passes away

Renowned religious scholar and Khateeb of Westridge Jamia Mosque, Rawalpindi Qari Obaidur Rehman died here on Sunday. His funeral prayers will be held on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Race Course Park, Rawalpindi. He was known for his Qirat of the Holy Quran, particularly before the start of the address of the presidents and prime ministers to the nation on television and radio.
He gained popularity during the tenure of former president Ziaul Haq as he recited Holy Quran before the president's address to the nation and on important functions.
