The Sindh government has earmarked land for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and asked prospective investors to contact through the trade associations for acquiring the land. This was stated by the Chairman Chief Minister's Investment Cell Dr Ghousuddin while presiding over a meeting of Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) here, on Tuesday. He said the government was keen and committed for rapid industrialisation in the province.
Dr Ghousuddin supported the idea of Rice Exporter Association of Pakistan (Reap) for setting up parboiled rice plants at the northern bypass. He said the banks in Sindh would cater to the requirements of the industrialists.
The meeting underlined the need for promoting agro-based industries in the province. The participants urged Dr Ghousuddin to expedite requests of the SMEs for providing land at concessional rate to set up rice, pulses, foodstuffs, dehydration of vegetables and fruits, jam, jellies, syrups and fates industries.
President Unisame Zulfikar Thaver stressed the need for the development of infrastructure in the suburbs of Karachi to facilitate industries.
