New panel on lumber dispute approved

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) on Wednesday approved a request by Canada to set up a panel to determine if the United States is complying with an earlier ruling in their long-running lumber dispute. The decision was made at a session of the 148-member WTO's Dispute Settlement Body. The panel, composed of the same three trade experts who ruled in 2003 that US dumping duties on softood lumber from Canada should be revised, has 90 days to come up with a finding.
