Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Mir Muhammad Naseer Mengal said the government was according top priority to the speedy promotion of oil, gas and mineral sectors to put the country on the road to self-sufficient in these vital areas. Mengal stated this during a meeting with the Ambassador of Czech Republic Alexander Langer, who paid a courtesy call on him here, on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest.
The Minister said, "there exists a lot of potential and opportunities to promote co-operation between Pakistan and Czech Republic in diversified fields, including the oil and gas for the mutual advantage."
He briefed the ambassador of Czech Republic about the development activities in the oil & gas, including the cross border gas pipeline projects.
The Minister said that the government had deregulated the petroleum sector and privatisation of the state owned oil and gas units was in process.
He said that a package of attractive incentives was being offered to the investors in the onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration.
He invited the Czech Republic investors to avail full advantage of the investor-friendly climate in the oil and gas in Pakistan as this co-operation may go a long way to bring the two countries closer.
The Ambassador, on the occasion, agreed that there exists a tremendous scope of co-operation between the two countries in economic, trade and oil and gas fields and they could take benefit of these opportunities.
