A spokesman of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Wednesday clarified that no loadshedding was being done in any part of the province, however, power supply was disconnected for short intervals in areas where repair and maintenance work was in progress. Prior permission of the competent authorities was sought before power suspension in any part of the province and was publicised in regional and national press for the convenience of consumers.
Director Public Relations Pesco Shaukat Afzal Khan was talking to APP in the backdrop of reported power breakdowns in Swat and Mardan districts. He clarified there was no shortage of electricity and the company was receiving the same as per its requirement. However, for repair and maintenance work, power supply was disconnected for some time.
According to information obtained from 11kv Barikot feeder in Swat, he said, feeder No 1 passes through thick bunch of trees and as such power supply tripped for some time. To address that problem, he said, prior permission was taken about power suspension in order to cut trees so as to ensure constant flow of electricity. The problem has now been resolved and there was no such complaint from the area consumers.
About over billing complaints, pouring in from Gulbela and Daudzai sub divisions, he said there was no truth in the matter and bills were being sent as per actual consumption of electricity indicated in the meter. He said, Pesco took prompt action on such complaints and the complainants could approach the concerned office.
