NWFP Food, Excise and Taxation Minister Fazal Rabbani has announced that properties of those who were not paying the outstanding dues of Excise and Taxation Department would be auctioned and names of influential personalities in this respect would be published in the newspapers. He stated this while presiding over a meeting of the Excise and Taxation Department in Peshawar on Thursday. The meeting was attended by officers of the department.
Addressing the meeting, the minister directed all the officers of the department to send names of all defaulters to the Director General, Excise and Taxation, in three days so that necessary steps could be taken for open auction of their properties before June 30, and also their names would be published in the newspapers.
Meanwhile, another meeting was held on Thursday proposing action under the Land Revenue Act. The meeting on this occasion devised procedure for holding auction for sale of properties of defaulters. It also took serious notice of the absenting officers and suggested strict action against them. The Excise & Taxation Director General was directed on this occasion to file cases against all absentee officers.
Meanwhile, the meeting also envisaged action against ETOs whose performance was not satisfactory. Earlier, all district officers of Excise & Taxation Department presented reports of their respective districts.
At the end, Fazal Rabbani has appealed to all defaulters to deposit the dues before June 30, 2005 to avoid any unpleasant situation.
