17 Jun, 2005

US cocoa futures down $5 to $7 on Thursday, taking a cue from steady to softer prices in London, exchange floor sources said. "Cocoa has been busy for two days ... but I think we will go back to being slower now," said one floor broker, predicting prices would open down between $5 and $7. Liffe front-month July cocoa was off 3 pounds at 879 pounds a tonne.
New York Board of Trade most-active September cocoa climbed 3.9 percent to settle at $1,560 a tonne after peaking at $1,562 which was the loftiest level since April 21. Front-month July ended up 4.1 percent at $1,545 and the deferred deliveries added $56 to $59.
