The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Friday reiterated its opposition to the establishment of Federal Courts (FCs) and asked for enhancement in judges strength in the superior courts. SCBA ex-president and former Justice Tariq Mehmood termed it as violation to the concept of independent judiciary.
He regretted draft of proposed law provides appointment of the government officers of grade 21 and 22 as Presiding Officers of the Federal Court, which he said, was violation of the constitutional guarantees.
He made it clear that without an amendment in the Constitution with two-third majority in both the houses of parliament no such court could be established.
He warned that establishment of Federal Courts, headed by the government officers, would be creation of a parallel judiciary. He said concept of Federal Courts was a conspiracy to reduce the powers of existing judiciary.
