The NWFP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Raffat Pasha has reiterated his commitment that reward and punishment in police force would go together. He added police Jawans who showed brilliance and out-standing performance would be awarded and encouraged generously while those found in dereliction of duty would face the consequences.
He stated this while awarding sentences to two acting deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and three inspectors after out-come of departmental inquiry reports against them established their culpability.
Raffat Pasha awarded the punishment of stoppage of two annual increments to acting DSP and the then PS Ghalagai Swat Main SHO Said Rehman for registering FIR against an innocent person and the Lakki Marwat acting DSP investigation Taj Ali on the charges of giving false statement before the court.
Similarly, Inspector (legal) Muhammad Saeed of district Kohistan, on charges of wilful absence and dereliction of duties, was reverted from the officiating rank of inspector to the rank of sub-inspector. Inspector Wasim Ahmad Khalil the then SHO Hayatabad, on charges of adopting lenient attitude towards a counterfeit currency accused, was awarded the punishment of censure. Likewise Inspector Jehan Zeb of district Mardan has been warned to be careful in future.
