Flash flows in northern rivers likely

27 Jun, 2005

There is likelihood of flash flows in rivers Gilgit, Hunza and Kunhar during next 24 hours, according to a warning issued by Flood Forecasting Centre here on Sunday afternoon. The increased flows may cause local flooding along the rivers banks. People of these areas have been asked to take necessary precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, Chief Meteorologist Shaukat Ali Awan has said that the flooding in the tributary rivers, riverlets, and streams in the Northern Areas would have very little impact on the flow situation in the River Indus.
