Two water treatment plants for Hyderabad and Kotri

Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has announced setting up of two water treatment plants, one each for Kotri and Hyderabad industrial sites, to prevent chemical pollution causing tremendous amount of destruction to the environment and human health. He made this announcement while holding a follow-up meeting with the representatives of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industries (HCCI) and Kotri Association of Trade & Industries (Kati) at the Circuit House here late on Saturday night.
He said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf during his recent visit to Karachi has approved setting up four treatment plants one each at Korangi, North Nazimabad, Federal B.Area and the industrial site of Karachi. He said the treatment plants at Kotri and Hyderabad industrial estates would also be included and would be implemented in
accordance with the policy adapted for Karachi affluent disposal projects. The CM said: "The treatment plant projects are aimed at preventing the environmental catastrophe." He directed the secretary Industries to make arrangement for the implementation of these two projects.
Dr Arbab directed the Senior Member Board of Revenue to resolve the problem of land allotment for the Hyderabad SITE extension within couple of days. He also accepted the demand by members of the HCCI about reduction in the transfer fee of industrial plots and ordered to reduce it from Rs.0.3 million to Rs. O.1 million and to increase the registration fee from Rs.30,000 to Rs.50,000 for the plots of Kotri Industrial sites.
He also directed the Member Board of Revenue to conduct a survey for the allotment of further land for the extension of Kotri industrial area and submit a report within the shortest possible time. Responding to the complaints made by the HCCI members, the chief minister directed the DCO Hyderabad to ensure that the management of the HDA and the HCCI to undertake their joint efforts to resolve civic problems at the earliest.
DEGREE COLLEGE: The CM also announced that 172 teaching posts have been sanctioned for the Boys and Girls Degree College Kotri sites and held out an assurance that the college would start functioning before the current year runs out.
He also directed the concerned officials to complete the Rs.9-million sports complex of industrial site Kotri without further delay. He also issued directives for reactivating the Provincial Facilitate Board and asked that it should meet at least twice in a year to resolve the problems of the industrialists.
He said he would undertake an extensive tour of the province soon after the local bodies' elections to meet the members of the industrialists to resolve their problems and to strengthen the industrial zones to open up more job opportunities to the people of rural areas.
He appealed to the industrialists and investors to come forward and avail the opportunity provided under the investment-friendly policy of the government.
