15 die of gastro in Multan

A 55 year old woman Amir Mai died of gastro enteritis rising the death toll to 15. While another 76 patients including 48 children, 11 men and 17 women were admitted to hospital till Saturday, No total victims rose to 1,324. While total 15 persons have so far been died of gastro enteritis, 12 in Rahim Yar Khan and three in Jehanian (Multan) due to polluted water.
"At least twelve persons including five children Kiran Arshad, Arsalan Shafiq, Najma Hakim, Umair (2.5) and Abdul Samad (six month) have so far been died of gastro enteritis in the hospital, however we are not aware of any other casualties, while 1,324 patients were taken to hospital.
About 1000 were relieved after treatment," Dr Ali Hassan, Additional Medical Superintendent of Shaikh Zaid Hospital told newsmen.
DCO Rahim Yar Khan, Hamid Nawaz Shaikh warned the ice factories not to utilise the contaminated water and they ensure the cleanliness of their water tanks. He also organised special team headed by EDO (Health) to frequently check the ice factories, quality of ice.
Health authorities in Jehanian confirmed the death of three persons of gastro enteritis while more than 100 victims.
He said that emergency has been declared in the hospital and leaves of doctors and para medical staff were cancelled while SOS call was sent to Punjab government.
He said that we are forced to provide a bed to two men or three children because this disease affected a large number of people and they all were suffering from gastro enteritis and none of them was suffering from cholera.
